There’s no place like home . . .There’s no place like home . . .

Just like Dorothy, I feel like I’ve just returned from Oz! It was great to be home in time to drop off the Johnnies for their class (Jonathan finally finshed his paper on the way home – wahoo) and pick up the girls! The boys were welcomed into school and archery class with questions and hearty congratualtions. It was a very sweet homecoming and we are all VERY glad to be back (laundry and unpacking aside

)

Papa Johns celebrate our safe return today at 4:15!
The tournement was VERY intense and proved difficult for us in the last two rounds. In our 7pm Saturday night round, we finshed 0-5 (ouch), but we had kids playing until almost 10pm! Evan pulled out a half point the night before from an 8th grader rated twice as high as him. I was so proud of him never giving up even though the guy had him in checkmate MANY times- he finished with 1.5 points. Our Sunday rounds proved a little better, placing our team 28th in the nation. Liam finshed 49th in the nation in his bracket with 5 wins and only 2 losses! Ben and Erik finshed with 3 wins and 4 losses and James finshed with 1/2 point.
It’s hard to understand how difficult each of the half point and full points are to get – there are kids from ALL OVER the country – and look out for those kids from NYC! Phew – they practice ALOT in the Big Apple, and if you were matched against a New Yorker – forgheetaboutit!

Horsing around between matches . . .
I hope all who have read about our journey this weekend apprecaite how hard these boys, the coaches and parents have worked. The rewards are immeasurable. All I know, is that when we left Nashville yesterday, our boys were a little prouder, a little taller and and now have a head full of memories to lift them up when life might want to push them down.
I am so proud of them . . .and yes, I did cry
